interviewing children in custody cases

Timothy McMichael

Do you want to know what your children have to say about where they live, with whom they live, how they live?

Timothy is currently New Zealand's only Child Inclusion Specialist expert who works within the Family Dispute Resolution system, and within the broader Family Court system - meeting with children to make sure their thoughts, feelings, wants and needs are accurately heard, and then fed back to their parents who may be going through an FDR family mediation, or where a Family Court Judge or Family Court Associate has made a direction/order for children be part of a process.

Sometimes children want to be able to let their parents know what's important for them, even when their parents are not going through a Family Court or FDR process.

Timothy is highly skilled in meeting with children from aged eight onwards right up to age sixteen, in an age appropriate fashion, to be able to ensure they are part of any process whilst understanding they are not decision-makers.

Please reach out to Timothy to understand more about the service and the costs involved, and which is available in Auckland and in Palmerston North and other parts of Aotearoa New Zealand by prior arrangement. However as a pretty accurate guide, the cost of this service which includes a brief chat with each parent and/or guardian in advance, a one hour meeting with every child and a subsequent one hour feedback meting with parents and guardians, is for one child $800 + GST, two children $1025 plus GST and three children $1250 plus GST. Please note these are guide figures, and these do not apply if you are undertaking privately funded Family Dispute Resolution with Timothy.
